Need urgent advice about a cold
Discussion
This morning I woke up with the worst cold I have had in years.
I look rough, and sound even worse.
Normally it wouldn't bother me, and I would let it run it's course.
But today I have a job interview at midday, and I would like to look and sound quite a bit better than I am.
Any advice would be greatfully welcome, as this job is important to me.
Finally, if you were a company owner, how would you feel about an interviewee turning up with a raging cold?

Assuminig you are not allergic to any of the ingriedients get a decent strong pain killer and anti-imflamtory like a codine and ibuprofen mix. That should take the aches and pains away.
Get some Berroca, the Vit C will help with the infection in the long term, and the B Vits will perk you up for this morning.
Take plenty of tissues!
In terms of how I would feel if I interviewed someone who turned up with a stinking cold I would be pretty impressed that you could be bothere to make the effort. Too many of my staff call in sick with a cold which annoys the fk out of me. Might be worth just mentioning that you have a cold if you look like st. Don't want them thinking you are a herion addict.
ETA - If you have a sore throat the antisepctic throat spray is better than strepsils etc.

You'd rather your staff infect the rest of the workforce, resulting in more sick days rather then taking preventative measures? OP, as 944fan said, lots of berocca, tissues etc... will help in the short term. Other then that, eat some hot food before you go in (not stinky food, obviously, try a soup or something) which will give you even more energy and will "warm you up" before you go in.

Yes, people get colds all the time, you can't avoid them. If everyone just MTFU and got on with it it would be fine.Obviously if someone had flu or something else more serious I wouldn't want them at work spreading it, but not for a cold.

Thats ridiculous! If you have a sniffle, I agree MTFU! but if like the OP you have "the worst cold you've had in years and sound even worse", would you really want that in your office? None of your colleagues would. Obviously if someone had flu or something else more serious I wouldn't want them at work spreading it, but not for a cold.

Yeah fair enough if its a stinker as they probably wont be any use anyway. I have one member of staff and the first sign of a runny nose he is off for days. Gassing Station | Health Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
