New Vs Secondhand - ultimate smackdown
Discussion
Hello,
You know those threads where someone wants to buy a new car, and within three posts someone has pointed out that for less money they could have something much better secondhand?
I propose a game.
Step 1 is I suggest a new car.
Step 2 is you post a link to something better on sale secondhand for 10% less money. Then the next person has to post a link to something better than that for 10% less money, and so on, dropping 10% or so each time, each car better than the last.
This should eventually find the ultimate automotive bargain currently on sale in the UK.
You can use whatever feature you like to claim you suggestion is better - number of turbos, top speed, colour, boot space, whatever. Has to be road legal by whatever definition of that term you think you can justify. Just so long as the previous suggestion is ridiculed for being too expensive for what it is, and that only an idiot would buy it when such amazing cars can be had for less on the secondhand market.
And the starting point for ultimate new-and-/-or-expensive-cars-are-a-waste-of-money-you-can-buy-one-of-these-instead-o-rama is this:
Audi A6 Avant 3.0 TDI quattro (245 PS) SE Avant with 1 mile on the clock for £44,495. A price so cheap for a new car that the dealer couldn't even be bothered with a picture. Surely no secondhand car could ever compete with such a new car bargain. It's amazing features are described in the 425 sometimes poorly spelt and often block capital words in this professional trade advert: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3879429.htm
So what secondhand car beats it? Are we going to have a 911 first or wait a few posts? I can't wait until the shed-money final rounds...
Please play my game, I just want to be liked [/needy]

Well that's a pretty good start! Way to destroy a thread you'd have to be an idiot to by diesel audi when you can get a perfectly good ferrari 550

What on earth could top that for 36K? (scurries off to the classifieds...)
I raise you a Quattroporte for your 550 (36k)

3 year old QP has got to beat an old Fezza, surely?
Need to get ourselves some top trumps....

Fine, I raise your ratty little Italian terrier with this:http://pistonheads.com/sales/3900384.htm
Because it's a 5.3l, V12 Shaaaaguar that you can take the little snotters in. AND it's finished in a lovely, slightly dirty shade of Essex White.
Plus you have loads of cash to spare.

Does it have to be precisely 10% cheaper, or does it just have to be atleast 10% cheaper?

There, definitively 10%ish. Just to stop someone killing it in the first page with a £50 E30 (if you can still find those).Dr Boxcat said:
Nice, but decades older, and 10% more expensive than this: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3946246.htm
I dissolve your Bavarian cortina with my many, many bhp of V8ness.
