Good News!!! The Dacia Duster's arrived
Discussion
With this kind of pricing stratergy it's not going to take to long for Dacia to outsell it's Renault parents in the UK market. Yes the cars are built on older Renault platforms but when you can make significant savings how many everyday drivers will be that bothered? Heck £8995 for a decent looking 2wd SUV I'd be half tempted myself.

I think thats the plan...renault are already paring back their range in the UK IIRC, no longer selling langunas and meganes. Probably a lot more profitable making cars in Romania than highly unionized France. Renault hasnt much reputation for reliability either, so the relatively unknown Dacia name is unlikely to make much difference IMO.12gauge said:

Not selling meganes? News to me, we were selling them this morning
Lots of the Renault range isn't actually made in France anyway, but your point is correct.
The Dacia range uses existing tooling, mostly existing components so is cheap and easy to manufacture and will make a lot more profit than the Renault range does IMO.
Shame we have a LHD car that we can't use on the road and is a different spec (slightly) to sell from, with first deliveries in early next year.
stopped selling some models anyway, for some reason i thought the megane was also cut, guess i just never see any...

^^^ This. Good news to have some decent cheap cars made in Europe rather than having to buy Chinese or Korean.Ozzie Osmond said:

Ironically, Great Wall have just opened up a factory in Lovech, (about 150Km from me), building dodgy Chinese motors! http://www.greatwall.bg/
For reference, halve the price, and that's pretty much the price in Euro's. Cheap as chips!

Not that I'm fussy given the price.
