Split teats on baby bottles

We have a set of bottles for our son's milk (he's now 8 weeks) and last week we noticed that he went from feeding comfortably to choking and spitting out a lot of his milk. On inspection we saw that all of the teats had split so as he was sucking, there was no control of the milk entering his mouth
(Rather than a small hole at the top, a line had split at the end of the teat)
The blurb on the teat box recommends changing them every 2 months, so how long should teats last? These have lasted just 3 weeks (since we switched him to comfort milk) which seems a little short considering the b
d things cost £4 for a pack of 2 
We've got in touch with the company that produce them and so are awaiting a response.
