Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has had the following symptom and located the problem.

I have an SR4 Biduro spec. When accelerating through the first and second green lights on the rev counter I experience a vibration that seems to come from the rear of the car. Once you've got through this rev range the vibration fades away until the next gear reaches this range once more.

At first I had wheel bearing and spherical joint issues that lead to play in the rear left and right wheels and semed to be the cause, this has been fixed by the factory, but the vibration is still present. It gets worse the hotter the vehicle runs.

I've eliminated obvious potential sources (unbalanced typres etc...) and can only think its something with the diff, rear cog or chain under power.

Any ideas or similar experiences?

Simon.

Hi Simon
We run an SR3 in the championship and we have suffered from various vibrations throughout the year. One was caused by the 'clutch basket' breaking up, but this vibration was through the whole rev range and the engine did actually sound slightly different. Another vibration was caused by the output shaft being slightly bent, but this could only be felt at high speed and full revs. I know it's a completely different engine in the SR3 to the SR4, but maybe it helps. I know you mentioned that you have done the basic things, but if you have repaired some bodywork at some point, this could also be the cause as we have also suffered this!
Don't aske me to elaborate on the clutch basket or the output shaft as I am an accountant, I just heard our mechanics talking about it!
Good Luck!
