Usually it is only the site of corrosion that is resprayed not the whole door. If its an approved Aston paintshop doing the work as i understand it they have to warrant the work that the bubble wont return - it probably will come back but further down the handle where there is no sign of it yet - sods law i think its called!
This is the worse problem with Aston Martin - absolute cr@p paint and no one wants to hold there hands up to it , very poor show , anyway rant over

In fairness to Aston when the OP's car was built they were still prepping & spraying by hand and not using UV wipes to check the surface. This is the worse problem with Aston Martin - absolute cr@p paint and no one wants to hold there hands up to it , very poor show , anyway rant over
All none pearl colours are now sprayed by robot and every body in white is cleaned with wipes containing UV tracers to ensure ever bit is cleaned. They have been doing this for a few years now.
The paint finish on my hand sprayed pearl car from sept last year is good, there are just a few panel edges that could have been cleaner.

I think the process changed in 2008 but no consolation to you. My friend has a Porsche with exactly the same problem so not unique to Astons.
Mine is a March 2009 one Silverspeed and I still had the issue fixed in March this year (original warranty so foc) by JCT - no guarantees really
i personnally think all owners with this repeated problem which Aston are fully aware should all get together and attack as it were Aston as a group....even go public with it via Watchdog etc...or rip off Britian....Aston does not need bad press at this time esp with trying to break the china market...

How long have Aston been making cars? Judging by the number of paint defects on this forum alone, it's pretty poor that cars this new are having multiple defects and although I appreciate they wouldn't have known this would happen you'd expect the process to have been thorough in the beginning given their experience. All none pearl colours are now sprayed by robot and every body in white is cleaned with wipes containing UV tracers to ensure ever bit is cleaned. Anyway, doesn't give much confidence in buying used....

There seems to be quite a few of on here with the same problem, perhaps we should start a list and as you say all go for a joint complaint.bogie said:
my 2006 car has this somewhere on nearly every panel now ...mmm...so i wonder if Aston will go halves with me on a respray ?
This is clearly a manufacturing defect. Far too many cars are suffering from the problem. Furthermore, we all seem to have the bubbling in exactly the same places(door handles, wheel arches etc.).
Aston should do the decent thing.
I've had a quote from an indy, and it was over £3k.

Lotus had this issue on their cars a few years back with the move to different paints ...same story there, some people managed warranty claims, others didnt, years later used market gets the problem and you are on your own
So who owns the domain name "Myastonmartinpaintdefects" maybe we could get a big user forum going ?

I was charged £1500 (without a contribution from AM) to strip and respray 2 doors on my V8V by an AM approved bodyshop. I though that the price was rerasonable for the amount of work involved.
Nigel, I saw your post on the ‘DB9 aluminum rust thread’ about your pending door repairs. Is it safe to assume that it was the (well known) galvanic reaction between doors handles and door skin problem? Did your approved bodyshop use a different paint system to the original, in order to help defeat the reaction?
I see in the end, you declined the Manufacturer contribution at AM approved bodyshop, and sought your own AM approved bodyshop. Was it the case that the benefit of the goodwill contribution was simply cancelled out by the cost you finally got for yourself?
Because if it was the same repairer, using the same repair materials, etc (only going direct) that exposes the goodwill gesture as flawed, doesn’t it?
