Seatbelts, why don’t you/ people wear them?
Discussion
I’ve noticed recently more and more drivers, passengers too, not wearing their seat belts. And I just can’t get my head round why they wouldn’t buckle up. 2 examples for you
1. Followed a fiesta full of young lads home yesterday and not one of them had a belt on (granted it could have been nicked given the state of it, but it wasn’t driving like it was stolen
)
2. Parked outside Asda last week a young lady, couldn’t have been older than 20 jumps into her new Corsa and zooms off, didn’t buckle up either (she could have done it further on down the road but I doubt it, driving didn’t seem high on her list the way she left the car park)
I don’t even think about not buckling up, as soon as my ass hits the seat I buckle up, even after a shift in the taxi, the belt goes straight on, if I’m alone in the car and going to an unknown area I buckle up for my safety, and especially on motorways/national speed roads if the car is empty.
A guy I know posted pics of his accident on facebook the other day, one had a massive hole in the windscreen on the passenger side with the description. . where my head went through . . ., the next pic in the slide was of his cut up face minus half a nose and half an ear! Surprisingly of all was the fact he couldn’t take the abuse/criticism from people posting on how stupid he was for not buckling up, even answered one persons “why don’t you wear a belt?” question with . . . “I dunno? Just can’t be arsed”.
Do you buckle up? Honestly? And if not any particular reason why?
It just strikes me as a foolish thing to not do and could potentially cost someone their life.

Always! I actually feel uncomfortable sat in a car without a belt on, even when stationary with the engine off. It just doesn't feel right.
I've got a mate who used to not wear a belt but now he does, not sure what changed there but I'm glad he wears one now. It worries me seeing all the new drivers not wearing a belt, it's obviously cool to not wear one

other than the young and looking about 20 part this sounds like my missus. She always sets off and then does her belt up around 200yds down the road. It really winds me up and i always mention it but you can't teach an old dog new tricks. 2 sides to this.
A story of my friend who driving down a national speed limit duel carriageway , drunk driver comes straight across x-roads out in front of him, he hits it in the side no chance to stop, cue car flipping end to end 3 times, my friend who was driving had a belt on, his passenger did not.
Driver, 2 broken legs, back, pelvis broken in 6 places, almost all ribs broken ( don't recall the exact number) 6 months in intensive care had his lasts rights read to him, etc.
Passenger, Small scratch above his eye, thrown clear of the car through the broken rear windscreen.
I always wear a belt, but just goes to show, not always the life saver

I just helps natural selection as far as I am concerned.
Lol have to agree with this. I am guilty of it when driving from my accommodation to work to wash the car or whatever. It's on camp, usually on a Sunday morning when no one is around, and the speed limit is 20 k's so I should be okay

Look on the bright side, if that same thing happened today the driver would get sh!tload more compensation than the passenger, lol.
ahah! this could be the answer! i bet on the insurance form they say they had a belt on, despite the injuries only being sustainable without a belt
