MCS - keep or swap
Discussion
Hi - I have a 2010 MCS which I love, but it is a fleet car and goes back early next year - I know I am planning ahead but need to save up. Having a fleet car does my head in, it is expensive and I have no control over things like tyres, can't track it, etc. A replacement fleet car is a possibility, and I could potentially hold on until the all new 2013 MCS is out, but for the above reasons I am not keen on this route.
So, I am likely to have the opportunity to buy my car and given that it is speced exactly how I want I am very tempted to. I also know how it has been treated since new, and this is both good and bad - it has been flawlessly maintained but it has done a few miles and I haven't exactly been gentle with it. I haven't thrashed it but it has done a few touring holidays in place of the TVR and been pushed quite hard at times (did you know it's possible to get the mpg on these things under 20 (oops)
.
The alternative is to put a little more money in the pot and buy a JCW. I have always wanted one, but is it worth it? I know the MCS v JCW has been done to death, but this is slightly different as it is swapping a known car for a JCW. Part of my question is also how robust do people feel their MCS is once out of warranty if it's been driven hard and done 50k plus miles. The JCW would be a similar age, but probably have had a gentler life and I would pick up a lower mileage car, say under 20k miles. If I kept the MCS for two years I would take it up to the 80k miles mark.
Any thoughts greatly received.
I am considering other cars but keep coming back to the mini having loved mine and it gives the right balance of practical versus fun.

JCW. No contest!
Had from new Jan 09 in the best colour Chilli red (after driving S, the JCW is mental in comparison, just love it!). Once warranty went I got that loss of security feeling but to be honest it just seemed to go better and better - now 35+k miles). It's that good, and I've had a few cars in my time.
Plus JCW residuals are good. Fewer out there.
Hell of a wrench day this coming Tuesday.
Just sold it to dealer BUT good news is I'm getting another.
Gotta be one of the best 'fast' fun cars out there!
