Strange Lighter/Charger Problem.
Discussion
The problem is quite simple really. My lighter socket works perfectly well as a lighter. (I know because I briefly pressed it in then stuck my finger onto the element. OW!
) However, none of the chargers I plug in get any power. And I've tried four separate ones so far. They seem to fit snugly.
I've checked the fuses and they look OK. Could it be a relay? Or, am I missing something?
Thanks.

Ah, I've heard that some charging devices which you shove in the cigarette lighter aren't long enough for some cars. Or to put it another way, the cigarette lighter in your car is too deep.
You need to check whether the positive pin is making contact with the base of your cigarette lighter. Either compare the length of your cigarette lighter with your charging device, or measure the depth of the lighter socket against the charger. Do NOT measure the depth of the socket with anything metal!!

Well, it was working perfectly well until I placed what I later discovered was a damaged Tm Tom charger into it. Since then, nada. That's why I checked the fuses, fully expecting expecting one to be blown.

Have a look in the socket and make sure there's nothing bent/left behind. I had the same on my car when I first got it, found a broken end of a charger stuck into the socket causing a short!

That could be it as the socket has worked normally up until now and the charger that seemed to have made it malfunction was physically broken at the end. I'll check it out
