Hey

Having a few problems with my broadband supplier and that well known British phone company.

Basically to keep a long story short...

We needed to change the billing name on normal phone line. Said company needed 3 weeks to do this. Broadband supplier gets notified of this and email me to say connection has been cut... call us to confirm what you want to do.

I ring and after waiting ages i'm informed that a simple email will surfice.

I send email to say i still want Broadband.

I recieve nothing back... during this time i'm working 9-6 and evenings in a bar so time isn't exactly in my favour.

Broadband gets cut off... flatmate starts (love that smilie!)

Ring up broadband supplier and they give me two options

1) reconnect for £58

2) cancel subscription for £50

So either way i'm screwed royally.

Luckily i'm moving in september so i'm thinking about cancelling as this would save me my last month's line rental of £24.

Anyone got any advice? Can i get this money back from B* as obviously its their fault for taking 3 weeks and not ours? P**** have also mucked us around as they didn't check their emails.... (i have proof i sent it so i haven't done wrong....?)

Also, i've got to choose a supplier for my new flat from September. Should i keep with this supplier as the service has been fine, until this problem arose... but then a good company is tested during problems and they've failed....

Any suggestions?

Cheers everyone,

Rico

(ps. sorry if it sounds all a bit gobble-de-goop)

Can't help with the money back bit - try shouting louder that usually works.

There are loads of suppliers out there. You are generally only going to talk to your supplier if something has gone wrong so I would choose one that has a good customer service record (that rules out B*) as well as a reliable service record.

Use www.adslguide.org they have a nice comparison feature. These are user reviews so tend to be fairly accurate.

Cheers malman.

I don't think im getting keys to my new pad until September so i'll keep checking in on that site.

I can't really be bothered with the hassle so i'm going to cancel my current broadband service, as i'll spent £50+vat but save £24 from next month's bill... Not worth the hassle over £30 or something.

Blooming annoying though... ggrr

Life goes on... cheers

I agree wholeheartly with the above. Also www.ispreview.co.uk helped me find (what I consider to be) a reliable and cheap supplier.

I've been with Plus.Net for 2 years and will highly recommend them (put me down as the referrer if you do decide to use them... tvrchimaera) after using Pipex for 12 months (rubbish service)

We use Zen at work and they are also very good.

Not to mention nthell*, my uncle's cable modem has died completely, after 40 mins on hold (whilst being told that if his broadband isn't working go to www....) that the best they could do is to send an engineer round in 19 days time at the earliest!
