I've had a look on other forums but hopefully someone here know the answer...

The light is flashing and when you unlock the car, all the doors unlock instead of just the driver's door (anti-hijack feature). Everything else seems to be fine and the car starts ok.

I think the anti-hijack needs to be reset but unfortunately we didn't get the manual with the car. Does anybody know how to reset the system?

Thanks in advance!

Ha! No, it's a relative's car which she recently bought and she is upset that it already has issues.

Open the door, put key in and turn to ignition, lock the doors with the drivers door still open. They should lock and then pop open again and, hopefully, it will have recoded the key.

It's a long shot, but it works on Vauxhalls!

Have you tried changing the battery in the key fob?

Haven't tried that because I don't think that would cause the issue with the anti-hijack feature.

A K12 with issues? Surely not smile

Does the key indicator blink all the time, or only when the car is locked?

Not sure. She said it was when the key was out of the car but I think it stops after a while.

Looking through the FSM for the Almera (built in the same place at a similar time and seem to share some components) it says selective locking/unlocking can be enabled and disabled by the dealer.

Unfortunately the procedure doesn't look possible without their CONSULT-II interface. Do you know if it did it and now doesn't, or has never done since she owned the car?

A quick Google brought up this

Right... from the manual. This is all Nissan refer to in the manual as "anti-hijack mode" and I haven't found anything about automatic locks. There is, however, a lock button by the handbrake that locks the doors, so a useful manual version of what you want.

These procedures change your car between "convenience" and "anti-hijack" modes. Convenience mode opens all doors with one press of the button. Anti-hijack mode unlocks the driver's door with one press, and other doors with a second press.

For non-Intelligent keys
Within 20 seconds of switching the ignition from on to lock, press the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds.

For Intelligent keys
Press lock and unlock simultaneously for 10 seconds, the immediately press the lock/unlock button on the driver's handle. Must also be done after turning ignition from off to lock. The "KEY" light will flash to confirm the change to anti-hijack mode, and it will flash "KEY" if you have turned it to convenient mode.

Just tried that, didn't work...
