Airband scanner
Discussion
So we're off to Fairford next weekend and thought we'd like to nkow abit more about whats going on and buy an airband scanner.
A quick look at Maplins shows a variety of units from 20 quid to sill quids.
Is the 20 quid one sufficent for what we need ?
nb. we also do a bit of casual spotting at Brize / Lynham and anywhere else with planes, so the ability to listen in there would be great to.
The 20 quid one :

All you'll really need will be the control tower frequency. All aircraft movements will be dealt with from there (I think
)

If that's all you wanted it for, then it should be sufficient.

But for later use you might have more use out of a true scanner.
