Uneven brake pad wear.

Just changed the pads on a friends car... they look like this. The inside one still has loads on it, and the outside one is worn out; is this normal? Why has this happened?

NO ,looks like sticky sliding caliper probs ,a good clean up an application of anti seieze to pad edges andcaliper slides should cure it

Modern(ish) car with fist callipers I guess? Sticking pins/slides/guides will do that. A good wire brush, slap on some anti-seize and it should be fine.
