Driving to Oxford on Saturday - Park in city or park & ride?

Hi all,

I'm going to be meeting some friends in Oxford for the day on saturday and I could do with some help on parking and access!

Not been to Oxford before and I will be arriving by car at about 11am and leaving at about 4pm.

The reason I'm asking is that every website I've looked at is screaming things about 'traffic restrictions' in the City and park and ride schemes, so I'm not sure what I can and cannot do!

What would be best for a day visitor who just wants to park and then walk around the town for the day?

I've been a couple of times and would suggest you use the Park and Ride.

Park and ride probably your best bet. They're a lot better than they used to be.

Not sure what direction you're coming from but there are a few:

There are a couple of car parks in the centre if you're desperate to drive right in, or you could park on St Giles.

will be staying in Woodstock the night before so coming in from the North West / A34 direction.

Not desperate to park in the centre if park and ride will be more convenient.

If I remember correctly £5 for the day, central, cheaper than 2 people on the P&R also avoids the bus queue's.

This all depends on when you are planning on coming in or going out, an how late you are staying as to the best option.

Water eaton park and ride is best bet if staying in Woodstock. Use it every weekday, £2.40 return per adult, parking is free, but you have to pay both parking and bus if you use Peartree park and ride.

Run every 20 mins to centre, jouney takes 10-15 mins depending on traffic
