Had the pleasure of taking my 964 and the Mrs to Spain and France last week. Haven't had a good road trip in her since I went to Le Mans 4 years ago. Really good fun driving, with no hardly any traffic and good roads.

Took the ferry from Portsmouth to Santander and then stayed the night in Vitoria before hooking up with the N260. Drove to El Pont De Suert before more 260 to Sort. From here we went on the C13/28 over the mountains to Vielha and then into France. That road was excellent fun, lots of curves and climbs to around 7000ft at the top before dropping down into Vielha.

Spent a few days in France with my mum and then back via Brittany and then home. Even managed a quick blast around the roads in Le Mans to show the wife.....

Overall an excellent trip and the old girl covered the 1800 miles without fuss. looking forward to a return trip sometime soon biggrin

Awesome looking 911. My favourite in terms of look. Sounds like a great trip nice to see you are getting good use out of the 964. I want one!!!!!

Done this trip many times, in fact we normally base ourselves in Vielha. Like you say, road to Sort from there is very good and the N260? Hmmmmmmm ......lovely.

Glad you enjoyed it.

EDIT: Just to say, after watching your vid from Sort to Vielha as you go up the twisties and over the Pass ....... The first time I drove that road back in 99, it was half the width and in a very poor state, made up of loose gravel as a road. It was impossible to travel at more than 40MPH on it then. Driving down into Vielha was half an hour of focused concentration.
Amazing how sooooooooo fab it is now. I've done it on bikes and cars, and love it. Great video, I'm going to try in September to get back there after watching it.

Interesting info on the road. When I saw it was a C class road I had visions of a dirt track up the mountain! Imagine my surprise at it being some of the best road surface of the whole trip......unlike the M20 on our way home from the Chunnel.

Did you find it frustrating when driving back in the UK?

It never stops amazing me just how many cars are on UK roads. I've just got back from a North - South and back to Santandar trip in Spain. Virtually no traffic anywhere other than cities and beaches. ........ Pure bliss, and as you say, even many C rated roads have great tarmac.

Yep. Driving in the UK is a pain in the backside. We drove about 5 hours a day and it was just such a pleasurable experience especially in a sports car.

I have always thought that even the back roads in France make our motoways look like the st they are.
