A trip to Duxford yesterday, and a look around the museums:

A big thank you to 'Fred' who upon my interest showed me around the hanger where the Spitfire/P51 would be flying on Sat and Sunday, and (though iphone pics aren't the best) i got some snaps. He was truely interested in the subject and answers all the questions i had.

One of the Spits was 'Gingers Lacy's.....

The Thunderbolt was doing circuits when i was there hence no pictures of it. Most of the rest are static displays.

Thoroughly recommend going for a visit, very well laid out and good (if somewhat limited) descriptions of the diplays.

ETA - just out of curiosity: did you ask if you could sit in the Spitfire? Even knowing what the probable answer was I'd have asked!

Interesting that Hind looks to be in a right state given its vintage you would expect it to look less worn.

Notable for shooting down a He-111 that had bombed Buckingam Palace.

Just got back from a trip there today. As its the flying legends airs how tomorrow, there were loads of world war two era planes flying. Loads of spitfires etc. Was amazing!

Apparently all in that hanger are owned by a wealthy American collector, all are airworthy. The Spit was worth in the region of £2 million...i didn't ask i'm afraid!!
