going from car + toy to just a car

Right essentially a what car but been going round in circles for a while now, currently driving an elise 111s (which is amazing) and a diesel 54 reg polo (which is crap...in a word lol). Now the elise is used a weekend and evening toy as I find the potential costs such as stonechips/ new clamshells (from minor bumps scuffs) too big a burden to take on despite the fact it was bought as a everyday car (good on fuel etc etc). The elise has bugged me recently by the fact that going on holiday camping etc I need the polo with the boot which drives me up the wall (sat in the sun on the norfolk countryside without my pride and joy seems a waste).

So the cars I am thinking about are around the 20k mark need to get at about 30mpg and be ok to be used 365 days a year and not lose me a fortune over the next few years. My ideas are a 370z (however I am very concerned about residuals), cayman (but not a fan of porshe interiors and image), focus rs (may not feel special enough). So anyone any better ideas or driving one of my choices?

I've been in the same situation as you - but with a growing family, wife and urban driving environment to consider.

I ended-up with an S3 Sportback, although any of the estate Audi S/RS range would be compelling if I had less of a size constraint (see my Garage). I also thought carefully about the Golf GTi, R32 and 335i/d.

that z4 looks good, just mayby would blend in a bit too much I quite like the attention the elise gets , deffo got to have a look at one and the convertable version, do they feel special inside?
