Depends what floats your boat mate and without getting into a 993 v 996 debate they are both great cars and all the waffle will be subjective.went out in a 2000 996 cab and can not get it out of my mind, and have now convinced myself to out my 993 tip for one, I think it is all the extra equipment i liked sat nav phone heated seats etc so put 993 on market Am I mad ??? or just getting older and requiring a few more luxuries
993's are old classic air-cooled and 996's are a more modern faster water cooled car.
Quality will be better in the 993, but pace handling and creature comforts are better in the latter car, servicing also cheaper. Albeit there are few issues to report about on certain models which don't have the GT bottom end.
I like all 911's old and new, owned loads.
Advertise the old girl and go drive a few, ignore biased opinions and enjoy.
Good luck.
I also like all 911's, but I think it depends how special your 993 is; if it's a run of the mill example just go for it as you'll always be able to find another if you regret the change.
If your 993 is something special in terms of condition etc., I'd think long & hard before getting rid, you may live to regret it.
Good luck whatever you decide as all 911's have something special IMHO
By the way, +1 on the satnav being rubbish, I also use my TomTom.

Its pointless to start up another debate as it is purely subjective. They are chalk and cheese and most people come hard down on one side or the other for different reasons.
You have not given us much information, but going off what you have said, I reckon you should do it.
Good luck and if you do do it, let us know how you get on.

996 as a daily drive might make more sense?went out in a 2000 996 cab and can not get it out of my mind, and have now convinced myself to out my 993 tip for one, I think it is all the extra equipment i liked sat nav phone heated seats etc so put 993 on market Am I mad ??? or just getting older and requiring a few more luxuries
Not sure I would do it otherwise...
Yes you are mad! But then it's a Tiptro...so yeah sell it asap ahahahha
Joke a part...whatever floats your boat: if you are not into old things, sell it and do get something more comfortable. Only makes sense.
IMO I would def sell the tiptro, actually I wouldn't have bought it first place, and go get a tight manual one
993 of course. But that's me.

Yes you are mad, and will miss your 993, especially on their 50th anniversary next year, cant imagine 996 anniversary celebrations, but yes they are good cars, have owned a 996 targa and loved it, however the 993 shape wins every time, will take a lot for me to part with mine!
The 50th anniversary is 50 years of 911 to me that's 911, 964, 993, 996, 997 and 991.I've owned 2x 3.2 Carrera, 993 C4 and currently have a 996 turbo. The 996 turbo is the most competent and complete all rounder. The 3.2's were the most fun and had a sense of occasion. The 993 wasn't as raw as the earlier cars or competent as the newer cars but did look good (although I think they are starting to date).

I prefer the look of the 3.2 and 964.
It was a bit of an anti climax for me really when i bought it, soon moved it on, all subjective of cause.

Your right it is pointless starting up another 993/996 debate. That said...don't do it! The 996 should'nt be mentioned in the same breath as a 993. If your going for something a bit special like a GT3 or Turbo fair play, but not a cooking 996 of any sort. Your 993 was built to last, and as you say 135k and still a peach ? Try finding a 996 with 135 k, few and far between i would say. I bet you could pick up a 996 for 10k. Your choice though. Good luck whatever you decide to do. 996? Mmmmmm value for money yes! without a doubt and maybe they will be better appreciated in years to come..an S or a turbo especially will secure money better
when I was looking for mine ( 3.2 carrera ) then the 964 was takin a battering... oil leaks etc and no one would touch one unless it had full porsche service history.. now people have warmed to them and they are desired by many... It's about which look does it for you really oh and get the car checked out too obviously !! 993 gorgeous... but then for me personally it jumps to the 997 but its purely a visual preference.. whatever you buy get it checked and its worth paying the extra for a proper car if you know what i mean... Speak to an independant specialist that's not connected to any sale and ask for 996 weaknesses etc as they are the guys that fix them and know..
