I've just had a set of wheels stripped as I'm 'investing' in some hyper expensive period rubber for the DS and am getting the rims blasted and repainted before they go on.
I've just looked through the tubes that have come off the (4) 15'' wheels.
Tube 1: 14'' tube, 3 repairs
Tube 2: 16'' tube, 2 repairs
Tube 3: 15'' tube (hooray!), 4 repairs (boo!)
Tube 4: 13'' tube (wtf?), no repairs
What sort of cretin would do this? Honestly, some times I despare, it takes real effort to get all bloody four wrong.

I could well be wrong in this but I thought some tubes had a size range ???? even as I type it it does sound righ but oh, well
perhaps some where down to whatever size they could get at the time and puncture repair as to get home then forgotten about
some tyres aren't kind to innertubes too so patch or replace
I replaced an innertube on one of my tyres and with all the costs added up I was a good way on to a new tyre (Spridget tyres are inexpensive beccause of their size availability

I know, I know, its not the end of the world but if I want to vent I bloody well will
As for tubes having a range - yep, you're right about that. Amazingly my car's last papa managed to dodge every single opportunity to get it right though!
Oh well, Longstone will sort me out, its only money right?

well, yes, er, uhm, perhaps best check anything he did or didn't do on the carno doubt you've seen me put that one of worst things with classics (or any car) is the previous and present owners - present company excepted of course
The person who had my MG Midget donor car managed to fit a steel wheel axle housing with wire wheel half shafts, plus remove the spacers from the front hubs. The half shafts are to short and ensure early failure, the spacers stop the bearings from being over tightened.
And another car, my Spitfire had even more handling problems than usual since a previous owner had fitted the complete rear quarter suspension from another Triumph that looked the same but was not the same size as the proper Spitfire parts on the other side!

All part of the 'fun' I suppose. Rather a bad day sorting problems on the DS than a good day in the office.
I've got my beautiful new bespoke black wool carpets to fit in tomorrow anyway, then a blast down to South Yorkshire to Longstone later in the week. I've heard they stock a decent biscuit barrel...

Apropos of pretty much FA, and in a bid shamelessly to hijack this thread and have it fly me to Cuba, can someone please give me a quick exec summary on what each of the "stretch" scene and the "drift" scene is? I am familiar with generic Barry Boyage, but not with the assorted sub-tribes, cults, and clans.
