Been looking at DC2's for a while now and there seems to be two types of models the bug eye front and the flat front - whats the difference?

also whats the difference between the JDM spec and the UKDM models?

The twin round headlight ones are the UK cars and the single rectangular versions are the jap imports. No idea what, if any mechanical differences there are.

as said about, the jap spec are the square lights, and the round lights the uk spec, normally reffered to 96 spec in the form of the jap models, and 98 spec in for of the uk, but you also get 98 spec jdm models too.

mechanically there isnt a big difference, some parts are different, options etc.

they both have the B18 engine, although the jap spec is slightly more powerfull b18c compared the b18c6 in the uk. 200bhp vs 187bhp i think.

other differences are different wheels and fitment, 4x114 and 5x114.3. Also the uk spec comes with bigger brakes, 282mm on the fronts compared to 262mm on the jap spec.
i think most jap specs had air conditioning as standard where as it was an option in the uk. although im not 100 percent.
the exhaust is slightly different on the jap spec, and is said to have a better exhaust manifold and has a smaller cat.
also the uk spec comes with a passenger airbag and a clock.

apart from the small differences, theyre pretty much the same car. most parts are interchangable aswell,

yeah all dc2's have ABS. (and rust), be on your lookout for rust, it has killed off alot of dc2s.

some of the early 96 jdm cars did not have abs and some of the later 98 spec jdm cars did not have abs too. The 96 spec has different gear ratios and final drive ratios to both the uk and jdm 98 spec cars aswell as the brakes. if you go on to itr-dc2 there is lots of info on the differences between each one.

whichever you go for will be brilliant just have a look through a buying guide and give the car a through check before buying one. most cheap ones are chap for a reason.

98 spec Jap cars were on the same PCD and brake size and the UK cars with a 16 inch wheel, the 96 spec Jap cars have the smaller brakes and 4 bolt hubs referred to above.

i'd day around £4000 for a uk car and around £5000 for a 98 spec jdm. i wouldn't worry too much on mileage judge more on bodywork condition and service history. also if the car has had extra work like suspension rebush and recent caliper refurbs.

DC2 has a conventional cambelt.
