Hi All,Does anyone know if its possible for dogs to get furballs the same as cats? The reason I am asking is that my Akita has been a bit down in the dumps this week, reluctant to go out (he was 11 earlier this month)and has been eating grass more than is usual, last night after another grass eating session he was retching trying to be sick and was expelling gas from the rear end when he vomited he bought up what at first seemed like lumps of undigested meat when I looked closer it looked like a mass of tightly woven grass or fur and it stunk (sorry for being so graphic!)He seems a little more upbeat today but was still eating grass this morning.
Not really aware that they do maily because dogs do not wash themselves in the same way cats do (cats tongues are barbed so trap hair more) however with a thick coated breed it could be possible. I'd be more inclined to think its the grass though.
It is common for dogs to eat grass and at some times more often than others, (my dog is enjoying the long grasses at the mo) however he he has been down as well I'd be thinking a health ck may be a good idea esp with his age.
Is he eating well, any recent diet change?
