New car but need idea's as highly stuck!

I'm looking at a new car, and don't know what to get. Budget doesn't extend massively, probably to about £1500-£2000.

Basically at the moment I have a NA MX5 1.8 Euno's with Torsen LSD and lowered 40mm. Brilliant car and amazing car to drive on the B Roads, but they haven't got a massive amount of power and are a tad bit to small inside. Now I'm looking at a new car and in the price range I can't think of any other car which will beat it for a driving experience?

If I had the money I would deffo go out and get either an RX7 or DC5 but I don't. So what would be peoples opinions.

Just a big question on my mind of keep the MX5 and go through GAZ Golds, Polybush etc for handling. Turbo build etc...

Mk3 Mr2 is just within budget, and is reputedly a better handling car than an equivalent MX5. Worth a look in any case

I was going to suggest a turbo/SC MX5, as although I haven't driven one it seems to be exactly what you want...

Alternatives (no idea what your budget is) could be an Elise / VX220 / VX220T, an S2000, there's loads...

Upgrade the mx5 with poly bushes, induction kit, decat exhaust, a remap and better brakes. Then save up for your next motor.
