Just had the Chimaera down to Le mans for the 24hr, a round trip of 1300mls from Edinburgh. The car ran tremendously and never missed a beat, belied some of the negative myths about these great cars. Whether stuck in heavy traffic with the cooling fans operating or more frequently cruising at 3400rpm in 5th the car was a delight to drive. Pity there aren't more roads in the UK to match the drive from Zeebrugge to Le Mans.... happy days! beer

When will people wake and realise with a Chimaera you get one of the all time great characterful British classic sports cars with really practical grand touring abilities too?

I'd love a Healey 3000 or a E-Type, but at what cost?

A decent Healey is £40k up & a nice E-type roadster is going to have you looking for £60k plus?

And the truth is a Chimaera gives you all the character of the above with vastly improved dynamics over something designed in the 1960's.

You can of course take your 60's classic and spend the same money again making it stop, go & handle in a way that makes it practical to use on modern roads.

Or you could just buy a Chimaera, make a few very inexpensive improvements and save yourself an absolute fortune.

The way I see it my Chim is like an Eagle E-Type on the cheap.

All the time the majority of car enthusiasts still see a TVR as an unreliable plastic joke, those in the know can continue to laugh all the way to the bank.

Right, I'm off to Goodwood in mine now, Le Mans on Thursday for the Classic and Italy in August.

Not bad for a true classic British sports car that cost me less than £10k wink

Shhhh... don't let anyone in on our little secret just yet... laugh

Took the Chim to Zolder on Friday, did 2 x 20 minutes track intro sessions where it felt utterly secure and planted (thanks Messrs Intrax smile ), went home that afternoon in heavy rush hour traffic with long traffic jams around Antwerp... car's been a delight all along, as untemperamental as a Corolla. Cost a bit more than £10K mind, but then I'm enjoying it to the full for the fifth consecutive season. smile

1500 mile euro trip at the end of may 2012, including 6 laps at Spa and a lap of the "ring" and the chim was superb. The car right now has never run better, the more i use her the better she gets.Garage queens you can keep, these cars need to be driven on a regular basis.smokin

I'm not sure I agree with that. I've only ever had positive comments myself.
