Saw a Gallardo racing a Bentley last night, initially the inner petrolhead thinks "Cool, a Lambo", but then I thought WT the very F.

Saw this last night, the Gallardo seemed to be winning, suspect they were doing 100 plus, they were being absolutely hammered.

Bury new road in Manchester (30 Limit) with several thousand (mainly drunk after the Stone Roses concert people milling about is probably not the time and the place to find out, how there wasnt an accident I dont know.

White Gallardo and a grey (I think) Bentley, then several other fast cars in convoy, how do utter stheads like that get nice cars ?

They get given them by wealthy parents 99% of the time although they hate to admit it instead saying things like "I've got my own company" (which means their dad set them up and bankrolls them) or "I'm a company director" (which means my dad owns a firm and has parachuted me onto the board when without the nepotism I'd just about be able to clean the bogs). Or the possibility they've just been left cash or a property and spent it on a fancy motor. Not many are truly self made without assistance of one form or another.

I agree with the "wow fast cars going fast, cool!" Then "actually, that's unnecessary and foolish" sentiment. I often have to restrain the inner 5 year old!

It's especially foolish on that stretch of road, regardless of an abundance of people in their forties in Joe Bloggs baggy jeans!

If 99% are given the cars by wealthy parents, rather than their own efforts how can enough people ever start businesses and earn enough money to buy their children nice cars?

People can be smart enough to make money. However they can be stupid in other ways.

As shown by these antics I guess.

Plenty of sensible sports/super car owners.

On a related topic, is there anything quite as sad as a nice car being driven in a tttish manner?

Person driving a nice car well = decent chap.
Person driving crappy car badly = no big surprise.
Person driving nice car badly = utter, utter cocksprocket.

Or is it just me?

Let's just acknowledge right now that driving the cars fast, as they were, does not equal bad driving. It's just not sensible driving.

They were being driven the way they were designed to be, by the sounds of it. Just a shame about the location.

Easy really. You just start a company building expensive cars to sell to wealthy parents so they can give them to their kids.

This reminds me of a little story. A few years ago my ex and I would buy some MJ from this younger boy, probably 25 years old or so. Buying MJ btw was a rare occassion for me. Anyway, the 2 times I met him he came driving up with a white Smart car. Being a fan of just about all things with 2 or 4 wheels I showed my interest and enthusiasm. On a side story here he went on to tell me how his friends make fun of him for driving it. I told him I didnt see any shame in it. I personally wouldn't own one at this point in my life, but I see no shame in it or reason to laugh at those who do own a Smart car.

Well, the 3rd and last time we met it was a beautiful Summer day and it seemed like the whole block was out enjoying the weekend. So we are waiting and waiting and in the near distance I hear a very nice engine/exhaust note coming from around the corner. I can usually pin point or come close to guessing the vehicle by its sound (see Mustangs and Vettes and of course the very distinguishable sound of a 350Z, G35 or FX).

A few seconds later a brand new (i guess it was about 2010 at the time) white Lamborghini Gallardo comes into view. I'm thinking NICE! And then he stops next to us and its the kid who had the Smart car!

Evidently his father owns a bunch of apartment buildings in NY and he lets his lucky drug dealing son drive it at will! Good father, lucky kid!

I bet no one laughed at him ever again hehe

This post stinks of jealousy.
