Day in a Morgan - Where to go?
Discussion
I've got a day in a Morgan arranged for a weeks time. Picking it up in Cheltenham at 9am and need to return it by 9pm, just need to decide where to go.
Apart from a bit of the Cotswolds i don't really know the area at all. I'm open to go anywhere, the only thing is i'm meeting my brother somewhere near Oxford for a pub lunch (haven't decided where) so need to work that into a route. Obviously want to keep off motorways and dual carriage ways, any ideas?

Forget Oxford get over to Mid Wales.
^^ thisi see Morgans over here regularly - where people see Ferraris in the south-east i, almost, see as many Morgans (in season)
Maybe take a run via the Malverns on the way back - spiritual homeland and all that
Sing out if you do need some mid Waleian road pointers

[i'm not envious... at all... much...a bit...

One of the mechanics at my local Mazda garage (also a PHer) has a Morgan.
Beautiful!

Hmmm, Wales does sound tempting. Problem i've got is my brother is coming over from london, so Oxford seemed roughly half way to meet. I wonder if i could do both in the space of 12 hours?!i see Morgans over here regularly - where people see Ferraris in the south-east i, almost, see as many Morgans (in season)

Any areas of mid-wales that are a must see/drive? I like the idea of driving through the malvern hills as well. This is more difficult than i though it would be!
After lunch - get yourself to Tewkesbury - take the
A438 >>> Ledbury >>> Hereford >>> BUT before Hereford turn RIGHT at Bartestree >> A4103
LEFT >> Hereford (stay on Roman Road) and aim for Credenhill on A480
>>> Lyonshall >> A44 left to Kington (A44 = by-pass so)
Stay on A44 into
POWYS and on to LLANFIHANGEL NANT MELAN >> Fforest Inn
>> LEFT on to A481 >>> Llanelwedd
Over the bridge into Builth Wells - In town (High St) LEFT on to B4520 (Upper Chapel [top road to Brecon])
Short of Upper Chapel/Capel Ychaf turn RIGHT on to B4519 to cross Epynt (army do a lot of stuff up there and it's a popular rally spot)
Follow all the way to GARTH.
Left on to A483 >>> Beulah
Turn Right on to B4358 >>> Newbridge on Wye - A470
Left on to A470 as if for Rhayader but then turn RIGHT on A4081 marked for Llanyre & Llandrindod Wells.
Stay on A4081 and then join A483 northbound >> Crossgates
RIGHT on to A44 eastbound to Kington &(left for) Lyonshall (stay on A44)
Go for SHOBDON (HR6 9LX)- join B4362 >>> Mortimer's Cross - straight over >> Lucton
At Orleton RIGHT on to B4362 >> Wooferton A49
Staggered Right/Left straight over for Tenbury Wells
Go right over bridge in to and through Tenbury W >>> Bromyard
A44 eastbound - RIGHT on to B4220 - Left on to A4103 then RIGHT on to B4219 aiming for the Malverns
To get back to Cheltenham - aim for Tewkesbury via B4211 - Upton on Severn - LEFT A4104 >>> Tewks.
Go east, as if for M5 but coninue on to A46 to Aston Cross
RIGHT on to B4079 (i believe it's nicknamed Seven Bends) and RIGHT on to A435 >> Cheltenham
Food for thought

Try this as it's more fun than pottering through Llandrindod:Stay on A4081 and then join A483 northbound >> Crossgates
RIGHT on to A44 eastbound to Kington &(left for) Lyonshall (stay on A44)

Turn left into Llanyre after a couple of miles - there's a pub called The Bell on the left of this junction.
Go through Llanyre and turn right as you exit the village (it's signposted "Crossgates 3", just before the NSL signs)
At the end of the road, turn right onto the A44 >> Crossgates
STRAIGHT OVER at Crossgates roundabout, stay on A44 eastbound to Kington &(left for) Lyonshall (stay on A44)

Well, in the event you don't need to do any meets in Oxford the next time i would tweak the run to turn you to Rhayader to include the Elan valley (maybe inc. Claerwen), Nant y Moch and the Clywedog. The latter means the road that runs over the mountain between Machynlleth and Llanidloes.
Boring route to Newtown
Out of Newtown on Kerry Road (A489) >> churchstoke >> Lydham (still A489 but turn left) >> Craven Arms
South on A49 to Ludlow [food capital of the UK so grab a bite]
Exit for Clee Hill on A4117 and turn right for Tenbury Wells (this is usually better coming up - hairpins) B4214
Then you join the road (turn left) that brings you from Wooferton and you're back on track
- just remember to turn right over bridge in to Tenbury
