new blades with integrated washer and it's still pants.

it seems the wipers arent being pushed onto the window with any pressure at all and the springs are feeble.

Any ideas how to get new springs or do I have to buy the whole arm?

I thought this many years ago when I tried to resolve the problem but new arm no different. I think the problem is the high curvature of the windscreen and the inability of the blade to mould to the shape due to the number of joints in the blade. The spring presses the centre of the blade onto the screen but the outer parts can't bend around enough to meet the glass.

There used to be blades available with lots more joints which were better but I've not seen any for a while.

It's also important to get the angle of the blade rubber to the screen at optimum, i.e. perfectly perpendicular to the glass if possible.

Thanks. I got new blade style wipers and the middle is what is missing. The arms seems to have no "spring" any mor e- very easy to pull up, so I am hoping some new arms will do the trick.

At the base of the wiper arm there is an elongated metal double-ended hook, one end of which hooks onto the spring and the other end hooks onto a sort-of spindle right down near the base of the wiper arm, almost out of sight. This hook is kind of banana-shaped, and about 4cm long or thereabouts.

I have a similar problem - wiper tension is too low, particularly on the driver's side. I have pondered making a replacement for the "banana hook" a fraction shorter than the original to put the spring under a bit more tension. It could simply be made by cutting and bending a very thick piece of wire. But I've never got around to it, and it would be tricky to reassemble.

Has anybody used the so-called 'Aero' blades? I.e. with the spring in the rubber rather than lots of arms pushing the blade onto the window.
Obviously I have the same problem but is this, I wonder, the solution?

I use those flexi blade ebay jobbies on the other family cars and they work a treat to be fair
My chimaera wipers are rubbish - mainly because the motor seems to struggle to move them ?
I seem to be suffering some sort of power drain as my electrics are feeble for some reason.any ideas ?

I use the Bosch Aero retro fit ones from WiperBlades - one short one on drivers side and a longer one on the passenger side. Very good and don't scratch the window like the meccano ones did.

I have these on mine and they do work well. I also put a shedload of RainX on the screen which helps a lot.

Leven blades are the best, and cant complain about anything about them......maybe the price...but you get what you pay for
