Never bought or sold a car trough a car dealer, nothing against them, I just tend to use owners clubs, however I'm now my current Alfa doesn't seems to raise any interest.

In my view, this is mainly down to people perceptions of Alfa's reliability and the fact that is a 2.2 petrol. Nothing wrong with the car, I just got the hitch and want something different.

I've paid 5K not long ago and according to the books I would be looking at 4K which is a lot of money to loose in the space of so little time, I guess I could get a bit more if I px for a 10K car, which is way over my budget.

Could I do a straight px for a car advertised for 4.5/5K or would they laugh at me? Are there any other options or should I just keep her until I raise more cash?

To put things into prospective, I'm selling an Alfa 159 2.2 JTS 58K miles, standard trims, tax until September, MOT until October, next service due at 70K miles, FSH from Alfa dealer and warranty until Sept 2013

I'm not a car dealer, but I doubt they'd be interested in that deal.

Unless you're offering them a car which can sell quickly and easily for a bit more than what you're swapping it for I doubt they'd be interested.

Just to clarify - you paid 5k not so long ago, does the book now claim the car is worth 4k retail or trade?

If it is trade, there's no harm in making enquires with dealers who are asking circa 4k for their car. A nice results for you would be adding just a few hundred quid to your car in order to switch into something else.

If your car books at 4k retail, then it's likely to be worth 3k. I love Alfas but wouldn't particularly want to take one in swap, unless it was very cheap. And I dare say most dealers share my opinion, so be prepared to be kicked in the nuts I'm afraid.

I've got the 4K on parkers and this would be the PX value, retail seems just over 5k but there is no interest for petrol models now days. I'll be happy to add couple of hundreds on top for a new car but, for all the cars worth changing for it seems like I'll have to add couple of grand instead.

I would have hoped that the 14 months warranty would have helped selling on but it doesn't seem to be the case silly
