Being photographed
Discussion
I am becoming somewhat unnerved by this practice of sitting behind a nice car (i.e. mine!) and getting your passenger to photograph it. I keep looking in my rearview and seeing a mobile being held up or a flash going off.
Is it just TVR owners who get this?
Where do the photos end up?
I keep looking in spotteds and the regional forums to be reassured that I am only being spotted by fellow petrolheads and not a) being set up for robbery b) being reported to the authorities.

No it happens to most cars that are a bit 'different, my GF has a Diahatsu Copen and that's nothing special just different and that gets photographed a lot.
Can be a bit unnerving at times I agree, a few weeks back on the way to the Griff Growl I was overtaken by a body kitted Corsa(it was raining) and the car hooted and as I looked there was a guy hanging out of the window with an SLR..... so he'll have a picture of a surprised driver just giving him a thumbs up.
I guess the majority just get stored in the camera's memory or maybe posted on Facebook?

Happens a lot when you are in a TVR. A couple of years ago the car in front of me parked up, the driver got out with SLR in hand and started clicking away did not think too much of it at the time. Sometime later someone was telling me about a car spotted website we had a look and there were the pictures Link
There's a guy on here that regularly posts TVR's going up the A1 in the "Spotted TVRs" section.
Often you can see the registration number & the face of the driver.
Don't get me wrong, it's great to see enthusiasm for our cars but is this type of behaviour not an infringement of our civil liberties?
Every UK citizen has the right to go about their business without their movements being recorded by a member of the public and posted on a public forum.
I know we have a lot of CCTV these days, but it's not uploaded to the internet where anyone can see it.
Getting spotted is nice, but to have a photo of your face, registration number, time & location all posted on a public forum without asking for that person's consent first is very wrong in my book.

Nope, you don't have a right to not being photographed in a public space. It being public see. However you do have the right to wear a burhka, sunglasses, and baseball cap if you are concerned about your privacy. As for the registration, well unless people regulalry address you as your majesty, then ma'am you a lot, you still need one :-)Often you can see the registration number & the face of the driver.

Don't recall ever having been photographed whilst in my car, though I have seen pics on the various spotted threads of my T350 parked up in different places.
Not sure if it would bother me or not - might make me feel a little daft, especially if going through a town centre. That said, if you don't like attention then TVRs are not the wisest choice of car.

I was sitting in my car at Oulton chatting to the Mrs on the phone, when I noticed someone taking my picture...Lo and Behold

So long as my picture is not being taken from a box fixed to a post by the roadside, I don't mind.
Although, unfortunately the only passer-by photo (not PHer or TVRCCer) I saw on the internet of my car was of when someone had driven into the back of me which shortened the boot somewhat. For a little while that was a pic found at Google search 'Cerbera images/pics' which usually shows up next to wikipedia Cerbera.
Still, could've been worse. I could be a married man photographed with some 'other' woman in the car or youtubed, as the broken volume control of the radio blasts out Jedward or Justin Bieber.
