Already have a 'stop the ice/leaves/fruit falling in' job but could do with something a little finer than this to stop seeds/bits of mint entering.

Large tea strainer possibly?

I was going to say tea strainer, I think that's stop pretty much everything you need. I think I've seen bartenders using them as well. Sorry "Mixologists".

I've always thought of them as a "bad influence" rather than bartender/mixologist.

Tea strainer it is, cheers :]

bar strainers = tea strainers.

by "stopping things falling into the glass" i guess you meant a hawthorn strainer - the bit of metal with what looks like a spring bent around it?

Using both strainers together is the best way to avoid ice shards in drinks served "up" such as martinis, daiquiris, manhattans etc.
