just in the process of doing this along with the fusebox and other bits and bobs, can I ask if there is any reson why no one has ever fitted it behind the drivers seat in the cubby hole? a slight reshape of the hole and it fits in quite nicely and seems more sensible than the boot? not only can I still get in the car if it goes flat but wires will be shorter too?

I think that is the best place for it. Like you say you just need to be able to do a bit a fibreglassing to re shape the body slightly.

Cheers daz I totally forgot about that thread! Already bought the 925 battery aswell! Should still fit ok though, just not quite as well as the 40.

Let us know how you get on fitting it Jon, especially if you are going to do some fibreglassing.

Will do, think I'll shell out for the 40, a lot slimmer, same weight near enough and more powerful.

If you use a Gel Battery like an Odyssey you probably don't need to enlarge the cubby.

Mine's in the boot, as I wanted to keep the cubbies free for other stuff, I think it was a model 925 but not at home to check:

See um the opposite, I haven't used those cubby holes once since I have owned it, and it just seems much easier and simpler than having it in the boot. Yours Looks like the 925 I have already bought, it would fit in the cubby hole and only stick out an inch or so, but if I'm going to do it I'd much rather do it properly with the 40.

have to say if anyone is after a battery I would HUGELY recommend these guys:

http://www.thompsonsltd.co.uk/

not only are their prices good (140del. for the 925 and 160 del. for the 40) they have not made any fuss about returning my 925 battery and whilst they don't stock the 40 they have ordered one especially.

nice to deal with a company that prides itself on customer service for a change!

I've got an Odyssey PC680 behind each seat in my Griff, they're small so no cutting and glassing, but they turn a 6.2 litre over with no problem. Also the foot well is tidier and there's more leg room, just need a bit of carpet for the front

looks good you effin effer, only I have put my fusebox in the other, had looked at that option and have the fusebox elsewhere but would rather do a small amount of fibreglass work and have just one battery. however if you are not re-doing your carpets like I am that is probably quite a good idea.

Yep that's the one and I had the hold down brackets made, but you can get a very similar hold down from XS Batteries

Will they keep up with a full size battery?

well after looking over it today I plan to cut away the whole rear of the cubby hole and then to fabricate an alloy tray holder that will overlap the hole and seal/rivet it in place to save messing too much with FG. looks like it should be a good fit though!

The design would but mine wouldn't be big enough, Odyssey do a range of hold downs for all sizes of batteries, like these I just copied the small one
