MTB Tyre Recommends!

Hey,

I'm in need of some new tyres, the Maxxis Advantage that came stock on my Five are okay, but I'm looking for something that will deal with mud a little bit better.

Looking to replace both front and back tyres, I think.

Probably Conti/Maxxis as I have had good experiences with both.

Need to order them today, so quick recommends would be nice!

Or even the x-king in Race Sport compound. Very very light tyres considering the grip they offer.

Cheers for that, I'm going to go with Queens front and back with the Black Chilli version on the front for extra grippy-ness!

I just changed to conti rubber queens, from Schwalbe rocket ron's (were on when I bought the bike)
I find the contis seem to bounce a lot on the rear (have a hardtail) and a lot of lateral movement on the sidewall - regardless of pressure
Contemplating sticking back on the worn schwalbe;s till i find something better....

What rims are you running? I don’t know much about Rocket Rons…are they high volume tyres?... but having run 2.2 Rubber Queens on my hardtail, and 2.4 Rubber Queens on the full suss, I can confirm that they definitely need to be fitted to a nice wide rim to get the best from them. They were as good as useless on the Mavic 819’s that had on the hardtail…. being squeezed onto such a narrow rim meant that the tyre profile was all wrong and I could feel them squidge and squirm when leaning into fast corners. My big bike has Stans Flow rims which are a good bit wider, and they made a noticeable difference to how large volume tyres performed, so much so that I ended up buying a second set of Flow rims for the hardtail.

I've got Conti Rubber Queens on my Orange 5 they're UST with the Black Chilli compound, I thought the tyres on my old bike Nobby Nic Evo Snake Skin were good but the Rubber Queens are just brilliant.

Did my local trail centre yesterday and the ground was a mixture of dry, muddy and slightly slippery top surface and firm underneath, they were brilliant, even had a run down the freeride jump bit and they felt good. Had them 6 months and can see me going for the same once they're worm out.
