Woke up Friday morning and decided I needed a… Ring Trip! Actually it was more of a Family christening as I found out a Belgium friend just brought their first 911 (GT3 no less) and were due to pick it up on the next day and then of course like any good continental GT3 owner it needed an immediate outing to The Ring!

Left Friday lunchtime (from Cumbria) and managed to get to Antwerp by 1am. Up at 6:30am and at the Ring by 9am on the Saturday. Just being at the Ring is an amazing experience, I could spend the day just looking around the car park.

On the Saturday I drove my little Cayman:

Here is a Video of a Ring Lap: http://youtu.be/kbNWOs_ddgY?hd=1

Basically Belgium friends (at the start) in various 911s (GTS and GT3s) and Vantage. The track was damp then it started to rain which is a great equalizer, especially when you’re driving a car with the engine in the right place ;-)

Sunday I rented an MX5. Actually was a HUGE amount of fun seeing as it was race prepared with semi-slicks, Ohlins, race pads, etc. With another 100 BHP it would have been awesome. I actually wanted to rent the Artega GT but due to the short notice the MX5 was (a great) substitute.

Rent4Ring (http://www.rent4ring.de/) are really good guys (Dale is a Brit Abroad that works there). They have a variety of FWD and RWD cars, including the MX5 and Artega. The MX5 was approx 300 Euros, but that did not include the laps as I have my own Ring Card. The Artega would have been double that, but its double the car.

Completely agree! It is such an amazing car, quite rare at the Ring now. I counted at least 10+ GTRs but only one R34 (the Bayside Blue one) over the weekend. Heh, I also had an R34 until I crashed it at the Ring.

Hi Dan. Mrs Farque is still in awe of your 'spur-of-the-moment 'Ring trip' tales from a few weeks back. I think she admires your spontaneity!
