Edinburgh to Doncaster
Discussion
We are driving up to Kilmarnock for the weekend in August seeing family, the OH mentioned driving across to Edinburgh after then driving back to Doncaster.
The most obvious route is A1 all the way down, what do you guys think?
Also any suggestions for the Kilmarnock to Edinburgh route?

A68 from Edinburgh to Darlington is far more interesting than the A1
"Interesting" as in terminally dull and boring ?A697 to Morpeth and down the A1 I find is the best route.
Try to avoid the Metro centre on busy times, however.
A68 is very hilly and covered in speed cameras.
Either you get caught behind a lorry that won't do
more than 40 mph, or you get caught behind some
hat-wearing local who won't do more than 50 mph
in his Nissan Micra.
Either way, you'll get caught by the speed camera
when you try to overtake either ;->
