Hydrolocked turbo diesel
Discussion
Anyone care to give me a step by step guide as to how you would check a hydrolocked tdi engine?
With a petrol engine I would take the air intake off, plugs out, stick a clean plastic tube into the cylinders to suck out any water and then try to turn it over with the plugs still out. If it sounded OK I'd assume the conrods were OK and put on a new air filter, replace or clean the plugs, change oil and water and try to start it.
Don't know how to do this with a diesel.

Same thing but with "glow plug" replacing "plug"?With a petrol engine I would take the air intake off, plugs out, stick a clean plastic tube into the cylinders to suck out any water and then try to turn it over with the plugs still out. Although I'd be tempted to check TDC height on all pistons was the same, as it's a slightly more reliable indicator of badly bent con-rods.
