Door to door loft insulation. Should I be worried

I was in my garden this evening clearing out some stuff out of my house that is currently undergoing renovation when some bloke in a suit came over with a clipboard and asked if I was interested in the Government grant loft insulation.

I know for a fact my house only have 150mil loft insulation so it needs doing. But should I be letting these door to door people do the work or should I be phoning known companies?

Can anyone offer some advice?

If you're eligible I think British Gas offer this so give them a try.

I dont know if everyone is getting served the advert for loft unsulation above this thread, I think thats quiet clever, waste of money though, got some!

I've just received some post from the council offering the same thing, and saying that a door to door represented will be doing the rounds in the area. Given that it's a free survey & installation I'm going to give them a call today and take them up on the offer.

I recently had loft and cavity wall insulation installed for nowt.

If you lok on the energy saving trust website you should find some further information.

Whether or not it works though???? Hard to provide an objective view on that one really.

my dad had this a year or so ago, filled the cavitys, and packed the loft with insulation! all for free!

afaik they had to meet certain criteria, but apart from that, all was good

Various companies (installers) are now doing the loft and cavity insulation for 100% free on ALL houses.


Dont be fooled tho by the guys door knocking half the time theyre merely taking your details and passing them onto a third party to carry out the installs

If youve 150mm or more i wouldnt have the loft done theres plenty there imo
