My 320i coupe has a sqwueak coming from the rear off side/driver side. i've been told its a dry bush. i took it to a machanic but he wants to rip me off for just jacking it up, another just keep refusing claiming they are too busy.

does anyone have any idea what it is, how to fix it and if its covered in the Hynes Manual?

i have tought about taking the wheel off and spray lubing every moving part, but woul;d rather concentrate on the problem directly...

Nothing worse than a dry bush sir.

They do suffer with this problem, my E30 bushes needed replacing, as they are a bit of a weak spot.

Alfa 156's suffer from this problem too but on the front, my wifes sportwagon creaked and squeaked a bit, and although not the best solution, I found that a good squirt of WD40 solved the problem.

Mind you, they will need replacing at some stage, it isn't too bad a job, but as fiddly as hell. I left it for a garage to do, and if I remember rightly wasn't that expensive.

Seriously though, try the WD40 for a bit, see how you go.

Well before i read your reply i took the rear wheel off and sprayed some bike lube with teflon anywhere i could see a nut and bolt or joint. That seems to have fixed it too, I am planning to have that and my timing chain sorted out thsi month.

Thanks for the advise!
