pinking again

how do i stop the damn thing from pinking, i have tried seting the timing at 5 degrees and running on optimax with ngk b6 plugs and octane booster in the tank but still it pinks when i bury the throttle , it dont use any water and it stays at about 85 degrees coolant temp could it be mixture and which way do i turn the screw to richen it so that i can try that , anybody got any idea's , its a 86 350i ....ian

Might be better with NGKB7ECS plugs. The Bible says they are the preferred choice to avoid pinking.

Hi ian! I´d start with checking the distrubutor advance curve. Mine is too steep and it´s hard to get rid of the pinking on track days when the whole package get really hot. I´ve seen different weights and springs and and maybee someone here has any tip regardning a new replacement spring set ??

Well, of course, FIRST you have to check that the TDC marking is correkt against cyl 1 piston in top position...
