Am I alone and being a misery guts by saying this phrase is a bit, well, prissy?

Can't remember what was before but it seemed much more natural somehow.

Anyway, as you were...

Haven't seen it, where is it? But yes, it sounds rubbish, like an early 1980's local TV advert.

"You're probably already aware of Dumpleton's Patent Haemmorrhoid Shears, but why not join other like-minded individuals to discuss Dumpleton's Patent Haemmorrhoid Shears at your local Parish Hall on a Tuesday morning? All welcome, orange squash and dead fly biscuits will be provided."

We only write something like that if you lot are already ahead of us with a news story.

It's supposed to sound a bit tongue in cheek, but if you think it's rubbish then, well, fair enough! smile

What would you like to see written instead? Let's have your suggestions, folks... we're all ears smile

How about:

PH'ers are already shouting, naming calling and generally trolling over this, why not click the link and stick your oar in?

or

PH'ers have already started a discussion on this, click the link to see the general consensus...

Thank you Mitchell and Webb.

What about "add a comment" written below the current number of comments? (isn't that what was there before?)

ETA Glad I'm not the only one who noticed it, that way it comes across as positive criticism and not just being a miserable bugger hehe

We still have the 'add a comment' thing (I think); this is when we don't want to attach a thread to a news story, as there's already one in the forums...

There's nothing wrong with the sentiment, it just sounds a bit too smooth and cheesy I think.

Currently Balham Badger's suggestion is the front-runner... Any more for any more?

Ah, hadn't considered that. What about "Discussion here" then?

It may reduce the number of duplicate threads. smile

There are two about the active, accessible OBD ports in BMWs and how that's led to 300 getting taken since March. In that case two threads may have been beneficial as one kept largely to the point even if it didn't stop people boldy posting without reading the previous seven pages. The other thread seems to have become about retribution and rehabilitation.

The phrase doesn't irk me, but perhaps it a bracketed tagline like (PHers have beaten us to this story already, again) wink

Just view it like a handy road sign? smile

Can't we stay with Crofty's, it suits PH.

Does it REALLY matter!? I think it's fine the way it is personally.
