Carbon fibre plenum
Discussion
Any one know much about the double Carbon fibre Plenum. Are there many gains ?
Hi Daren, it is the Rover SD1 twin plenum originally developed for the group 1 circuit racing and rally cars back in the 80s. Twin 65mm diameter butterflies which are fed by an 85mm diameter ally pipe. It is the whole setup, ready to bolt on to your engine, ideally to stage 3 or 4 heads. Talk to Rob at V8 developments. Thanks
Is this the same as the ACT double Carbon fibre plenu

Anyone interested!
You need a triple not a twin
"Well I know from my experiance that it was quite an improvement to go from one 71 mm dia butterfly to two 65mm dia butterflies. That's about 1.6 times bigger ie. increase in surface area. My latest move is to twin 80mm throttle bodies which is another 1.5 times bigger still. Shouldn't have any problems breathing with those on. Lol."
daz that is not a carbon plenum, sounds like a standard sd1 twin plenum, it will give you an increase, but dont use the y peice, you will have to run 2 individual inlet pipes for them to work properly, the y peice can be a big restriction, also make sure the spindles are good as you cant get them anymore and you would need to make them up, all in all they are ok depends what he wants for it ££££ wise, they sell like hot cakes on ebay for around £400, also make sure the trumpet base comes with it as they are a different size and you cant fit it to your trumpet base
I ran one of these for a while, it made an extra 10 bhp and the same in torque.
I had to get most of the parts re made and it still had air leaks.
The throttle mechanism is a dog on the side as it twists the butterflies causing throttle hang up, all in all a waste of time and money.
I gave up and went back to a 72 mm set up.
If you were to go down this route I would go the act way with a triple plenum IMO.
Also from memory the trumpets are smaller than the 500 45mm inlet manifold, so you will need to spend more £££ getting the base ported.
I've got pictures somewhere

Why is he selling all that stuff ? i only want the plenum and trumpet base .
I could use the money towards this baby ! Im Wondering what Rob thinks of this bolt on Turbo conversion.
Im would like 400hp with a low boost turbo..
Is this on your current 5.0 or is this on the proposed 4.0 after you sell yours?I could use the money towards this baby ! Im Wondering what Rob thinks of this bolt on Turbo conversion.

Man - you change your mind more often than my ex-wife (and at least I could divorce her...) ... :P
