Ok so im 20, 1 years NCB and i have my heart set on a Mk1 Mx5.

Want a 1.6, But the Eunos seem to be insane to insure, best i can get from comparison sites is £3.5k!?!?

However a UK Spec 1.6 is around 1600.

What companys should i be trying? Any help/advice? Thanks, Dan.

Try A-Plan. Sadly the imports are still a lot more expensive to insure than UK cars.

When I was looking at Mx5's, I tried everything to get a reasonable price on insuring a Eunos as the choice of cars at my price point was more plentiful.

Regardless, it always came to twice that of a UK car, being a youngster at the time meant classic policies etc were generally not an option. Ended up waiting for a suitable UK model, which was around £800 or so to insure as a 21yo with no ncb. Prices for insurance have risen somewhat since then though.

Uk Spec is the way forward then. When I got mine at renewal time, my old insurer wouldn't entertain anyone under 30 in one. A quick browse of the web found me a much better insurer for £750 fully comp.

I've just insured my 1.6 Eunos with Admiral for £880 fully comp - I'm 22 with 1 year NCB, I imagine with enough searching, you should be able to get to the 1k mark.

Avila I think! Can't remember right now hehe Flux were a waste of time for me. Stage 2 Nissan S14a 200sx came to about £1200 to insure, same details with an MX5 was £3K!
