Are you talking about a speed limiter on a lorry?

Regs 36 A & B MV Con and Use Regs 1986 deal with the requirements in relation to the fitting of speed limiters to goods/passenger vehicles, their sealing and maintenance in good and efficient working order.
Breaches of these requirements are offences.

Those committed in relation to Reg 36 attract a maximum fine of &2,500, and possible disqualification under another Act. Unlike breaches of the Con and Use re brakes, steering or tyres, then no penalty points.

Used to be possible years ago, by simply grounding the blue wire from the back of the tacho. Get caught doing this, and you're in DEEP guano. Nowadays, the tacho manufacturers have sorted out all the scams. I haven't heard of anyone being able to fiddle a modern tacho, although I'm sure someone will be trying to. Just not woth it in my mind, hgv drivers work long enough anyway.

It can be done, believe me! (not from personal eexperience though) A hot pin to remove the red seals behind the cober and then reset the dip switches (not saying which ones though!)

Anyway, I was asking about the speed limiter, not the tacho.
