Hi,

I'm considering an S-Type. Sat in one recently and it just felt right.

Struggling with the specification though, even the lady at Jaguar wasn't that sure. They had a 'Classic' for sale which i'd guess is the basic model. I've also seen 'SE' and 'Sport'

What comes with each of these models?

I'm spefically looking for one with the aluminum dash, not so keen on the wood. Which option is that?

Thanks

That's probably the Sport, I'm fairly sure. Also comes with bigger wheels and different grilles IIRC.

Mine's the Spirit which was the run-out model - basic spec with some freebie added extras.

I've had two S-Types in sequence since 2001.

I have the January 2004 brochure, accessories brochure, and price list.

"Classic" does not seem to be a model at that time but the word "Classic " is used in the price list to decribe the interior. It seems to apply to all engine sizes and all models except Sport & R.

I could not find anything about an aluminium dash. For some models you could get a grey maple dash...is this what you mean? I've never seen an aluminium dash. Maybe you've seen a one off version.

R.

Hi,

Maybe wongly described, it is a grey metallic instead of the wood.

Spoke to the seller, he desribed is at the 'Sport' interior.

After looking all morning I'm none the wiser!

It isn't the grey maple. Not sure what it is!

My wife has a 2007 V8 Sport.

It has aluminium (real stuff too!) door cappings, dash and centre console around the shifter etc. It also has the heavily bolstered sports seats in perforated charcoal leather, and the really rather good sports suspension. 18" Triton Alloys and the XS bodykit finish off the car nicely.

Apologies for the crappy photo;

Not a good picture, but it looks like the dash of my S-Type R.

Difficult to describe, aluminium effect is as good as I can do .... but I thought that was unique to the R .

Found this on my local Jag dealers website.

The S-Type 2007 (June to December 2006) is available in three models: S-Type Classic, S-Type SE and S-Type R. The range features four engines: 2.7 litre V6 twin-turbo diesel, 3.0 litre V6 petrol and 4.2 litre naturally aspirated and supercharged V8s.

There you go mate, that's the same interior as our lass's. It's aluminium or some other metal. It's cold and metallic to the touch and not plastic at all! smile

The Sport alloys (Triton?) can be bit of a pain to keep clean due to the twin-spoke design.
