Grand Prix bike sim (Beta release)
Discussion
Interesting - http://www.virtualr.net/gp-bikes-beta-1-released
Video, nice movement on the bike as long as the control matches. Also seems to be the original Misano before they reversed direction, which is nice too as the current layout is terrible.

The Alpha was excellent, but, it's hard to find something to control it accurately with.Video, nice movement on the bike as long as the control matches. Also seems to be the original Misano before they reversed direction, which is nice too as the current layout is terrible.
Just in case anyone is still interested.

Holy Thread resurrection etc...
Anyway, having seen the thread on Ride and agin having watched an incredible duel in Le Mans yesterday, for any of you Bike Racing fans out there I just wanted to say that if you haven't picked up GPbikes, you really should do.
There is a demo: http://www.gp-bikes.com/?page=downloads
It is still in Beta (6c I think), but, having found a great app to get my PS4 controller working on the PC perfectly (i.e the triggers are progressive and not just on and off) with even the touch pad working, this is absolutely fantastic in the fact that it is incredibly rewarding to just get it round the bloody track.
Difficult doesn't quite put it in to words as you have front and rear brakes, turn left and right, lean left and right, clutch, gears and the propensity to wheelie, tip over or just low side again and again. For anyone who played GP500 many years ago, this is just as good.
It is not graphic heavy, you can turn on assists for breaking, lean forward and back as well as left and right, clutch, gears and TC just to start off, but is gets incredibly rewarding as you take them off one by one and wrestle the bike round.
Also, as with all good PC sims, there is a lot of additional content including tracks and bikes, both of which can be downloaded in one big updated pack 40 bikes and 40 or so tracks (including a very rough North West 200 and hopefully someone will convert the TT when it is done for GPL).
The app alone might be useful to those wanting to use your PS4 controller on the PC, it is called DS4 to Xinput Mapper 1.2.2.
If you like a bike sim, you wont be disappointed.

I had a quick go of this last weekend and have the say the physics are very impressive, on a different level to RIDE, engine sounds are impressive too (shame the demo bike being a small capacity two stroke sounds like a noisy moped
)
Where is this big bike/track pack? If it's got a good selection I might take a punt at it...

The bike mod is just something someone has compiled all the finished and working bike mods, there are some great mods in there.

Just got a license now and trying to get round the NW200 circuit

I think that track is still a work in progress!I have found the SSP600 Ducati to be tame enough to just about get around a lap in and the Moto 3 mod is also slow enough to get around in.
The most important thing I have found is that the assists don't really help, I have everything bar rider lean front and Back turned off (not enough fingers),the brake assist really doesn't slow you down enough.
What control set up are you using?
Strong rumour is that Piboso is making a TT game.
Keyboard. And yes the assists don't really help
I'll give it go with my Xbox 360 controller sometime.
Most of the tracks seem to be WIP, which given they're user created is understandable. Is there any recommended/polished tracks/roads?
I've mostly tried 600-1000cc 4-stroke bikes (the 500cc 2 stroke is a bit uncontrollable once you enter it's powerband) but mostly trundling around in 6th gear. I'd be much faster on my Street Triple in real life
Good fun though

Must be impossible on a keyboard, honestly this game only comes alive when you are using a controller, if you have a wireless 360 pad then you can plug it in and it will download your drivers ready to go, that is probably the best PC controller anyway. If you have a 360 wireless then you need to get a wireless game receiver or if you have a PS3 or PS4 , just plug it in to your PC with the charger.
You need to be able to control everything in order to get it round the track really.
Tracks wise, look for the ones with NC infront of the names, they seem to be the better ones, Aragon is also very good on that list as ins the layout and elevation changes are very good, NC Redbull ring also. I do like Phillip Island that it comes with though.
Keep an eye on the forums for new Bikes and tracks, NC are updating their tracks to the visual standard of the Redbull Ring.

Regarding the 360 controller - I already use this for RIDE and it works fine in that - in GP Bikes however it doesn't seem to pick up the analog triggers when trying to set it up in game
no issues picking up any other axis/buttons on the pad, kind of need those triggers for brake/throttle...

Sorry, just seen this.

You may need to pop this file in to your plugins folder, re calibrate and remap your triggers and it should work.

Managed a reasonable lap on the 600 Ducati round Aragon - https://youtu.be/GH4Srg2m8lU
The Shadowplay quality isn't that good and a bit jumpy...
This is with no rider aids so full bike, rider, clutch and brake control, just getting round a lap is hard enough.
