How does valet parking work in Vegas?
Discussion
As part of our honeymoon my wife and I will be staying at The Bellagio in Vegas. When we arrive we'll still have our rental car. As it makes more sense to drop the luggage and then return the car I intend on checking in at the hotel first. How does valet parking work, I've never used it before and would appreciate some guidance.
Just remember you don't HAVE to valet park in vegas....there are self parking lots too (which are all free). Valet is usually $45-$50/day plus tip at both ends.
You can always pull up outside, drop your bags with a bell hop (get a ticket, and tip him) then go self park, then get the bags sent up to your room after checking in.

Hopefully you'll come back to this, as I'm a bit late, but I have a top tip.The view of the strip from the top of the Bellagio Car Park is very good. (Or it was three years ago when I was last there.) Try not to park on the top floor though, unless you want the car to be like an oven when you go back to it.
Valet parking is free at the Bellagio (apart from tips). Self park is also free and can be much faster and convenient if you are just popping back to the hotel for a few minutes.
Normally I tip both ways, but most americans I've spoken to will say only tip on pick up.
The Ballagio is also unusual in that the bell guy who unloads your car will be a different guy from the one who takes your luggage to the room, so they will BOTH expect a tip.
Likewise on departure, there will be a bell guy to take your luggage downstairs, then another to load the car then the guy/girl who brought you your car.
With all the tipping it feels like throwing money at everyone, and it's hard to know just how much to give.
Next year I will be wearing a "Tip Suit" (TM) with a sign saying "take what you feel you deserve".
