Hello all!
Nothing exciting in this thread for most, but its my second car. I originally had a 2004 Toyota Corolla, but after running that into the ground, then a fence, then a bodged repair, i felt a new car was necessary, bought this on Friday night.
Its a 2008 1.6 Astra Club.
No immediate plans for it and the only thing I've changed is put on Insignia washer jets.

Rubbish. Well looked after, they won't let you down. My Astra 1.6 has been abused and now relegated to city-dump car, but it never lets me down. Driven flat out across Germany many times, over 1000 mile journeys, just chuck in a bit of oil, and it keeps going. Now pushing 100k. In 40k of hard miles, I have replaced, a radiator, pads, discs, battery, oil, air filter, clutch - all wear and tear items, and that's it.stuart-b said:

I know of about 3 or 4 people who have had expensive problems such as gearboxes, engine management lights etcdeltashad said:

On the contrary, im ecstatic!No matter how little power the car has, the thought of being able to drive again is amazing. I love driving, no mater how bleak, boring and underpowered the car may be, I still love it.

We use that generation of Astra as fleet cars at work, with the 1.3CDTi engine. Easily some of the worst cars I've ever driven, and the reliability is shocking. That said, they get loads of abuse and mostly keep going, but they are dog rough.Baryonyx said:

It may be a bleak car, but at 19 its all i can afford to insure really. I'm just grateful I've got a car to be honest. It still raises a smile which is all that matters really.
