Earlier I saw an '06 Clio, with a little scoop on the roof, twin exhausts etc.

I thought it may have been one of the higher performance models, but when I checked the reg on my car check, it came back as a Renault Clio Dynamique (3 Door Hatchback).

Does this mean it's one of the base models, with a few cosmetic tweaks?

I don't think putting the reg here is a good idea - but let's just say I used to own an 06 LG TV and it was Foxtrot Romeo November!! <<clue to the reg lol!

Sounds like a modified special. 06 could be a really, really late Clio II or an early Clio III. Which model was it? The Clio II-based 182 had twin exhausts, but the Clio III-based 197 didn't. Only the facelift model that created the 200 marked the return of the twin exhausts, this time as part of the rear diffuser.

It had that same roof scoop / vent - but wasn't that model.

The front was different.

I completely forgot about the DVLA vehicle check.

Seems it's a 1.4

Definitely didn't look like any of those last two pics.

The roof scoop is from a Clio R3.

The Clio 197 did have twin exhausts, they were just disguised in the diffuser but you can see them quite easily.

Were the front lights the same as that Clio R3 posted at the top of the page?

I guess you mean the twin pipes weren't prominent on the 197, rather than actually meaning they weren't there at all (as an ex-owner yourself!).Largely irrelevant, but for what it's worth, Renault did sell chrome exhaust finishers as an accessory for the 197, to show off the twin pipes a bit better.

Does sound like some modded Clio with an R3 scoop.

Whereabouts are you? There's a white 197 cup racer replica around the north/north east area which is a 1.4 underneath

Seems clear that the car in question has been identified as a 1.4 with mods. However, the "real" 197/200-based Clio Cup race car has been sold by Renaultsport in the period from 2007 and could be made road legal.

I don't think so...

Not quite.

If I see it again, I'll try and get a pic.

Sorry, should have been more clear - what I meant was that the 197 (as standard) had none on show. Those accessory tailpipe finishers are hideous things!

This is not an R3. This is a Clio Cup.

The R3 is more regularly seen being nutty on gravel and stuff. Different suspension and stuff. The aero kit is similar though.

Bugger, sorry, quoted you, aimed at someone else. I didn't make that plain. Sorry.
