What do you have on toast?

I like a generous spread of Lurpack and alternate between Marmite, peanut butter and strawberry jam. Sometimes I out honey on my marmite for sweet and savoury which works well.

So, what do you use?

I don't mind a drop or two of lemon curd or a quality strawberry jam but you really can't beat just good bread and good butter (currently liking President).

I'd rather have a crumpet though.

Marmite on crunchy peanutbutter. Gooseberry conserve for a sweet one.

Cheap white bread, toasted and allowed to go cold (preferably a bit chewy), with boggo Anchor butter on it.

My parents were healthos (I was the only kid at my school to have brown bread in their lunchbox) hence cheap seaside B&B holidays were the only chance I ever got to eat white bread.

Consequently I love it and can't be doing with all the poncy stoneground wholemeal stuff. To me it tastes like the sweepings from hamster cages.

Toast must be hot!! Spread with Marmite, all over and right into the corners too. If I'm feeling particularly indulgent I'll add some sliced avocado on top.

Margarine is basically coloured plastic. Has to be butter on toast.

Other toppings in addition to butter... sardines on toast, or bovril on toast are heaven.

I was the same! My packed lunches however got swapped with the kids that had cheap white bread with just ham or just cheese in, along with their choc bar/crisps for my malt loaf/homemade cake.

Marmite or thick cut marmalade for me. I haven't had Nutella for a while and am now quite fancying the idea of that too.

Im the other way around, the bread depends upon the topping. If its something with a sauce (beans) then has to be a bloomer type. If marmalade or peanut butter then thick cut white bread.

Butter and Shipham's Crab Paste, better when the toast has cooled a bit. Mashed sardines in tomato sauce with a generous dash of tabasco.

Lightly toasted white bread left to cool slightly with plenty of lurpack and crunchy peanut butter. (skippy is the best by far)
Again but with a big dollop of dairylee spreadable.
