Daft question, but I don't know the answer, so thought I'd best ask.

I'm looking to get buy a car that has been written off to complete a manual conversion and engine transplant on a banger I've bought previously. But I have no idea where to get one? Do I just phone a scrap yard, or a breakers, or are there specific sites that I can look at?

Car needed is an e36 328i.

You most likely cannot buy a write off unless you have a waste licence.

This, you can buy cat C and D without a licence.

You may also want to keep an eye on eBay, Gumtree etc.

Check out the E-type. Doesn't look like there is anything wrong with it, other than dents and scratches

Plenty of bmw specialist breakers on eBay some offer the conversion kit of parts ready to go ( I looked into this for my e36 evo smg)

Are you looking for the running gear from a E36? I will soon be looking to offload a car that is still on the road, cosmetically very tatty but engine and gearbox are sweet, with some nice and very expensive schrick cams/intake/ecu. Drop me a mail if you are interested.
