Deleted by mistake, used a 22mm deep socket to remove the sensor and a cut down 22mm ring spanner to fit the replacement.

I bought a Snap-On tool (1/2" drive lambda sensor socket) that cost me £40+vat a few years ago. What a load of rubbish. If your sensor is practically welded on it just slips around the sensor eventually rounding off the sensors hexagon. IMHO you're better off using a 22mm ring spanner, large/long adjustable spanner or decent set of mole clamps and plenty of brute force.

The other option is buy a long 22mm impact socket and cut a narrow slit (just wide enough for the sensor cable to poke through) in it 3/4 of the way along the socket from the open end.

The impact driver won't flex and open up like my Snap-On tool because it's made of much harder and thicker metal and it won't cost you £40.#

When you tighten the new sensor in easy does it, doesn't have to be super tight, it won't go anywhere and makes it easier to remove again.

Bloody horrible job. Mine was practically welded in.

Since i fitted it the other side of the turbo up top it's been much easier to remove and replace and i don't have to worry about it disintegrating and killing my turbo and engine every time i run anti-lag or launch control. I don't have to get on my back to remove it and because it's not getting wet it's not getting rusty and therefore not being welded to the exhaust bung.

If you have an aftermarket exhaust system with a lambda bung near the turbo exhaust outlet fit it there.

Ok the story so far, I got a long 22mm socket and have cut off the end of the sensor so it fits, nice snug fit with a long torque wrench on the end but it won't budge as I expected so have covered it in wd40 and will give it another go in the morning. Any other suggestions that will help me shift it?

Longer breaker bar, even if just to get it started.

You need some heat then. Take it to an exhaust fitter and get them to heat the sensor up with an Oxy-Acetylene torch.

Another way to do it is to take an old 22mm ring spanner you don't mind butchering and weld it to the nut to get it started. Get a short club hammer and give it some!! Then cut off the spanner using an angle grinder and you're good to go. A bit extreme but sometimes needs must.

Well gave it a go this morning and manged to get it to move, now to get the new one in. Think I will need to have a modified 22mm socket to get it back in.
