Morning folks
I need to get a tracker fitted to my wifes M3 and was after some advice please.
Do they vary much in price and what are the benefits of spending more or less money on one?
Any suggestions for a particular model?
Many thanks Andy

Before you get too far in, does the insurance lay down any criteria? (I can remember when I had to fit a tracker my insurance co was fairly specific about the spec)

Its insured through Direct Line and they've said that they dont care about the model.
However once i've got some definite quotes and model numbers i'll go back to them and confirm

Coolio. Mine was yonks ago, and at that time some trackers gave off a signal if car was improperly moved, others you needed to contact the tracker. Insurers were obviously more keen on scenario 1. As I say, that was yonks ago, and I'm sure they've moved on massively.

I seem to remember this being a bit of a con. Direct line own tracker. Yes they may give you the cheapest quote but if you factor everything. It's not cheapest by any means. Change your insurer.

Which M3 is your wife driving? If its a newer model worth £20k+ then fair enough,if its an older model I would consider trying another insurance company even if it is a bit more expensive as fitting a tracker and subscribing for a year will probably cost you between £500-£600!

Its an E46 so maybe worth £10k tops.

Insurance quote seems very reasonable at £390.

Maybe I should change the question to 'who should I insure the car with'?
Any thoughts from anyone?

I insured my M3 with flux and CCI.Both around £550 with no tracker.TBH,direct line aside i dont think anyone will ask you for a tracker on an M3 worth £10k.

Get ringing!!

Admiral - no tracker required

Worked out cheaper than going with Direct Line + annual Tracker sub.

Great idea !!

Just got a quote from 1st Central - £330 which is cheaper than Direct Line and no tracker needed.
I knew that there would be a benefit from getting old

Thanks

Also, I found with DL that if you did the online quote where you selected how much voluntary excess you wanted, once you'd done the deal they added £500 compulsory excess. I took a policy out with them on my M3 and activated the existing tracker only to find this out after the event. I cancelled, free of charge, and went to CCI who didn't require a tracker.
